Lumi Terms of Service

Welcome to Lumi.

These Terms of Service govern your use of Lumi and explain the terms under which you may use the service.

By creating an account or using Lumi, you agree to these Terms.

If you do not agree with these Terms, please do not use Lumi.

Lumi is a personal financial organization and planning tool.

It allows you to organize information about your financial life, including assets, liabilities, income, spending, goals and other financial information.

Lumi may provide calculations, projections, visualizations and insights based on information you provide.

Lumi is not a bank, broker, lender, investment manager, financial institution or financial adviser.

Lumi does not execute financial transactions or move money on your behalf.

Information provided by Lumi is intended for informational and planning purposes only and should not be considered financial, investment, tax or legal advice.

You must be legally permitted to use Lumi in your jurisdiction.

Lumi is intended for adults and is not designed for use by children.

By creating an account, you confirm that the information you provide is accurate to the best of your knowledge.

You may need to create an account to use Lumi.

You are responsible for:

  • Providing accurate information
  • Keeping your login credentials secure
  • Maintaining the security of your account
  • Not sharing your account with unauthorized people
  • Notifying us if you believe your account has been compromised

You are responsible for activity that occurs through your account unless it results from circumstances outside your reasonable control.

You remain responsible for the information you enter or upload into Lumi.

You should ensure that the information you provide is accurate and up to date if you want Lumi's calculations and projections to be meaningful.

Lumi does not independently verify the accuracy of your financial information.

If you enter incorrect or outdated information, the resulting calculations, projections and insights may also be incorrect.

Lumi may allow you to create a combined household view.

If you add information about another person, you are responsible for ensuring that you have the appropriate permission or legal basis to provide that information.

You must not use Lumi to collect or store another person's information without appropriate authorization.

Lumi is currently being developed and tested.

During this period:

  • Some features may be experimental
  • Features may change
  • Features may temporarily become unavailable
  • Features may be removed
  • Some functionality may contain errors
  • We may limit access to certain features or users
  • We may invite users to participate in testing or provide feedback

We are actively building Lumi together with early users, and feedback may be used to improve future versions of the product.

Participation in user research or product testing is voluntary.

We aim to make Lumi reliable and available, but we do not guarantee that Lumi will always be available or uninterrupted.

Lumi may occasionally be unavailable because of:

  • Maintenance
  • Updates
  • Technical issues
  • Security incidents
  • Third-party service failures
  • Events outside our reasonable control

We may modify, suspend or discontinue features of Lumi as the product evolves.

Lumi is currently provided free of charge.

We may introduce paid plans, subscriptions, features or other charges in the future as Lumi evolves.

If we introduce charges for features or services that you are currently using for free, we will provide reasonable notice before those charges apply.

You will have the opportunity to review the applicable pricing and decide whether you want to continue using the relevant paid features or service.

Pricing, billing terms and cancellation conditions will be clearly presented before you subscribe to any paid plan.

We will not charge you for a paid subscription without your knowledge and, where required by applicable law, your explicit agreement.

You agree not to:

  • Use Lumi for unlawful purposes
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to Lumi or another user's account
  • Interfere with the operation or security of Lumi
  • Introduce malicious code or harmful software
  • Attempt to reverse engineer or exploit Lumi
  • Use Lumi to violate another person's privacy or rights
  • Provide information about another person without an appropriate basis or authorization
  • Abuse, overload or circumvent reasonable technical limitations of the service

We may take appropriate action if we believe these rules have been violated.

Lumi and its underlying software, design, branding, content and technology are owned by or licensed to Lumi and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

These Terms give you a limited right to use Lumi for its intended purpose.

They do not transfer ownership of Lumi or its underlying technology to you.

You retain ownership of the financial and personal information you provide to Lumi, subject to the rights necessary for us to operate the service.

If you voluntarily provide feedback, suggestions or ideas about Lumi, you allow us to use that feedback to improve the product without owing you compensation.

We will not publicly identify you as the source of feedback without your permission where doing so would identify you personally.

We may suspend, restrict or terminate your Lumi account if we reasonably believe that:

  • You have violated these Terms or other applicable Lumi policies
  • Your use of Lumi creates a security, legal or operational risk
  • You have used Lumi for fraudulent, abusive or unlawful purposes
  • We are required to do so by law or a lawful authority
  • Your account has been inactive for an extended period, where permitted by applicable law
  • We need to discontinue or substantially change the Lumi service

We may also restrict or terminate access where necessary to protect the security, integrity or availability of Lumi or its users.

Where reasonably possible, we will provide notice before suspending or terminating your account and explain the reason for the action.

However, we may act immediately where necessary to protect Lumi, its users, or to comply with legal requirements.

If we discontinue Lumi or terminate your account for reasons unrelated to a violation of these Terms, we will take reasonable steps to provide notice and, where appropriate, give you an opportunity to export your information.

You may request deletion of your Lumi account.

When your account is deleted, your personal information will be handled in accordance with the Lumi Privacy Policy.

Certain information may need to be retained for legal, security, fraud-prevention or other legitimate purposes where permitted or required by law.

Account deletion and deletion of all information are therefore not necessarily immediate or absolute.

Lumi is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis to the extent permitted by applicable law.

We do not guarantee that:

  • Lumi will always be available
  • Lumi will always be error-free
  • Calculations or projections will always be accurate
  • Information you enter will be complete or current
  • Financial insights will be suitable for your particular circumstances

You are responsible for reviewing financial information and assumptions before relying on it.

Lumi is not a substitute for professional financial, investment, tax or legal advice.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Lumi will not be responsible for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or similar losses arising from your use of the service.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability where such limitation is prohibited by applicable law.

Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory consumer rights.

We may update these Terms as Lumi evolves or as legal requirements change.

When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date.

If changes are material, we will provide reasonable notice where required by applicable law.

Your continued use of Lumi after the updated Terms take effect means that you accept the updated Terms.
